I am an avid reader and founder of Bonded
through Books Book Club. It was my joy of
reading that led and gave me the vision of
starting this book club. My hopes of
building life-long friendships with other women
of color that shared my love of reading have
gone far beyond my expectations. Although
I love many works by various African American
authors, my favorite author is E. Lynn Harris.
Naturally, one of my favorite books is
"Invisible Life". One of my favorite
quotes is, "People who treat other people as
less than human must not be surprised when the
bread they have cast on the waters comes
floating back to them, poisoned." (James
Baldwin).
Since the start of Bonded Through Books, many
members have come and gone, but we have
persevered on. Through the good and bad,
we have managed to stay together. That's
the beauty of being more than a book club, we're
family on one accord. We've had many
wonderful discussions over the years as we
collectively shared our thoughts on various
readings. Members contribute to the
discussion in their own unique way, adding the
diversity that we've all come to love,
appreciate and respect. Our book club has
transcended into a positive life experience that
hopefully will inspire each of us for many years
to come.
I
do realize my vision for this book club could
have never materialized without the continued
support of my committed members! For that,
I am eternally grateful. Your continued
support will only strengthen our bond as we
continue to turn the pages of the books we love
so much. As long as we believe in our
vision, support each other unconditionally, and
respect the views of others, B.T.B. will be
around for many years to come. Ladies we
have something very special amongst and between
us, lets keep our circle, just that, a circle; a
bond that is never ending, without a beginning
or end.
